Chiaroscuro 2024: Bridging Tradition and Technology in Art Education

Last year, Nahar International School hosted Chiaroscuro 2024, a remarkable event that brought together tradition and technology to shape the future of art education. Held on 21st September, the day featured a thought-provoking panel discussion with industry experts who shared how art has evolved from mere decoration to an essential problem-solving tool woven into our daily lives.

Ms. Danielle Flanagan, Mr. Milindo Taid, and Mr. Yan Garin highlighted how art spans everything from fashion to architecture, combining emotion and functionality in powerful ways. Students engaged actively, asking insightful questions about art careers and how to stay adaptable in a rapidly changing world.

The event also offered five hands-on workshops that allowed students to explore diverse art forms, from game character design and siporex carving to portrait illustration, dokra craft, and paper mache. Each session not only sharpened students’ technical skills but also pushed them to think creatively and appreciate both modern and traditional techniques.Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with students excited by the opportunity to experiment across such a wide range of artistic practices.

Overall, Chiaroscuro 2024 was a vibrant celebration of art’s past, present, and future. It left students inspired and eager to keep exploring. It was truly a testament to how art continues to evolve, connecting us to history while shaping tomorrow.
